About IMAX

IMAX Corporation is an entertainment technology company that combines proprietary software, theater architecture and equipment to deliver premium large-format cinematic experiences. Its network serves as a theatrical distribution platform for major event films worldwide. It reports two segments:
- **Content Solutions:** Earns revenue mainly from digitally remastering films and other content into IMAX formats (DMR) for studios and content creators. Smaller sources include large-format documentary distribution, exclusive live and interactive experiences, and film post-production services.
- **Technology Products and Services:** Sells and leases IMAX systems to exhibitors and provides maintenance. Contracts are structured as sales arrangements or as hybrid and traditional joint revenue sharing arrangements (JRSAs), under which IMAX takes a share of box office. This segment also sells after-market parts and 3D glasses.

IMAX also has a smaller Streaming and Consumer Technology business. As of September 30, 2026, there were 1,887 IMAX systems operating in 91 countries and territories (1,820 commercial multiplexes, 10 commercial destinations, 57 institutional), with a backlog of 409 systems. Its subsidiary IMAX China Holding trades on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (1970). Its Filmed For IMAX program partners with filmmakers such as Christopher Nolan, whose The Odyssey became the highest-grossing IMAX release ever. Updated
