America’s top-selling gun of 2023 was the Sig Sauer P365, a 9mm pistol selling for approximately $480 and manufactured in New Hampshire. Right behind the P365 was another Sig Sauer model, the P320. According to Sig Sauer, the P365 is a small, yet powerful, concealed carry weapon with an ergonomic design, while the P320 is a little bit larger and heavier. Both are popular among gun buyers in America, and Sig Sauer produced 9.4% of all U.S.-made firearms last year.

To find America’s top 25 best-selling firearms from 2023, 24/7 Wall St. reviewed a report from Gun Genius, which analyzed sales data from the online firearm marketplace GunBroker.com. Guns are ranked on sales volume in the 2023 calendar year, though exact sales figures were not provided.

In 2004, the Federal Assault Weapons Ban expired, and production of assault weapons began to increase, reaching over 1 million per year since 2015. By 2020, the number reached 2.8 million. Since 2020, American gunmakers have manufactured 6.1 million pistols annually, nearly double the 3.5 million average in the previous three years. Domestic firearm production is indicative of the kinds of guns Americans buy, and the latest sales report from the largest online firearm and ammunition marketplace shows industry trends of recent years continued through 2023. (Here is a look at the company making the most guns in every state.)

The following list was created using online gun sales only. Unlike most items purchased online, firearms are generally not shipped directly to your door. Typically, the process requires buyers to have their gun shipped to a Federally Licensed Firearm Dealer – usually a local gun store – which will run a background check before transferring the gun to the customer. Additionally, while the estimated base price of many of these firearms can be as low as a few hundred dollars, higher-end variations can sell for many times that amount.

Why Are We Writing About Last Year’s Gun Sales in the US?

The United States is the world’s largest consumer market for firearms, and nearly every gunmaker we note here has at least one major U.S. production plant, including Glock, which has its global headquarters in Austria, and Beretta, headquartered in Italy. Combined, these companies manufactured over 737,000 firearms in the U.S. in 2021. The firearms that made this list are made by 15 different companies under 17 brands, including some of the biggest names in the industry. Henry Repeating Arms, Glock, RemArms, and Sig Sauer each have multiple firearm models listed. But the largest share is made by Ruger, a company that manufactured over 2 million firearms in the U.S. in 2021, or 15.1% of total domestic production, according to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

These are America’s best-selling firearms.
