On average, the most expensive places in the world to live are Monaco, Singapore, and New York City. But you know what they say about averages: if you and Bill Gates (net worth of about $92 billion) are alone in the same room, the average wealth of the people in that room is around $46 billion. Congratulations!
So while Monaco may be the most expensive place in the world to live, more expensive real estate exists right here in the good old U.S. of A. That’s probably not surprising because when it comes to showing off how wealthy they are, Americans can be pretty transparent.
The pros at Realtor.com looked at median listing prices for the period June 2017 to May 2018 to find the Zip codes with the highest home prices. Each Zip code had to have had at least 12 listings per month and no state was granted more than two Zip codes and no metro area more than one.
