Apple reports fiscal Q3 2026 earnings at 4:30 PM ET after the market closes, with iPhone 17 demand, Services growth, and Greater China performance setting the tone. Prediction markets assign a 79.5% probability of an earnings beat, which would extend Apple’s streak to nine consecutive quarters.
At a $4.9 trillion market capitalization and trading at 37x forward earnings, Apple has little room for operational hesitation. Its relatively capital-light approach to artificial intelligence stands in stark contrast to the Magnificent Seven’s record infrastructure spending.
A clean beat, stable margins, and durable China demand could validate Apple’s run past a $5 trillion market cap. However, weakness in China or cautious margin commentary could quickly revive the valuation debate.
Apple shares are currently down 4% after reporting Q3 earnings despite revenue rising 16.4% to $109.4 billion, supported by surprisingly broad growth across products and regions.
iPhone revenue jumped 21.7% to $54.3 billion, while Mac revenue surged 28.7% to $10.4 billion. Greater China also delivered a major reversal, with sales climbing 22.4% to $18.8 billion. Europe matched that 22.4% growth rate, and every geographic segment posted double-digit gains.
The softer areas were iPad revenue, down 5.9%, and Services, which grew a comparatively modest 12.1% to $30.7 billion. With tariff refunds boosting reported earnings and gross margin, investors may be questioning how much of Apple’s acceleration will persist beyond this quarter.
Apple just recorded its largest research and development quarter ever, with R&D spending surging 32% year over year to $11.7 billion. Apple historically increased this spending by roughly 10% annually, but its latest growth rate was more than triple that pace.
R&D now accounts for 10.7% of revenue, up from 9.4% last year. With selling, general, and administrative expenses rising only 10%, nearly all the acceleration in operating spending is flowing into increased R&D.
Apple does not separately disclose its artificial intelligence investments, which means the sharp acceleration in R&D could indicate that the company’s making an aggressive AI push.
Apple saw strong Q3 results, with revenue rising 16% to $109.4 billion and diluted EPS climbing 29% to $2.02. iPhone, Mac, and Services revenue each set June-quarter records, while every geographic segment returned to double-digit growth.
However, tariff refunds provided a notable tailwind. They added approximately two percentage points to Apple’s 50.1% gross margin and $0.11 to EPS.
Even excluding that benefit, Apple earned roughly $1.91 per share, still slightly above the $1.89 consensus estimate. The results remain strong, but the refunds explain much of the headline earnings beat.
Apple just reported fiscal Q3 earnings, with shares initially down 2% following the report. Here are the key numbers:
Revenue: $109.42B vs. $108.96B expected
EPS: $2.02 vs. $1.89 expected
Quick Read:
Apple beat expectations on both lines, with EPS exceeding consensus by nearly 7% and revenue growing 16% year over year.
Despite EPS climbing 29%, the initial decline suggests investors wanted a larger revenue beat or are reacting cautiously as they await details on iPhone sales, Services, China, margins, and guidance.
