Zuckerberg Made Off The Cuff Prediction At UFC 250, and Meta Skyrocketed 30% in a Month. “You Are Gonna Think Of Meta Like You Thought Of Anthropic”

A casual conversation between a Wall Street analyst and Mark Zuckerberg at a UFC event sparked one of the boldest bull cases on Meta in years, and the stock moved like Zuckerberg knew something the market did not.

LightShed Partners analyst Rich Greenfield walked onto Squawk Box Thursday morning with a story that has quickly become the loudest bull case on Meta. He said he ran into Mark Zuckerberg at UFC 250, and the Meta CEO told him directly, “you’re going to think of META like you thought of anthropic,” predicting the perception shift would happen “over in pretty short order.”

Weeks later, the receipts are piling up. Meta (NASDAQ:META | META Price Prediction) shares are up 35.41% over the past month, the Muse app “shot to the top of the apple app store last night,” and Greenfield published a fresh $925 one-year price target on the stock, edging past the $920 JPMorgan set days earlier. At around $756.41 intraday, that implies meaningful room to run.

Why the Anthropic Comparison Matters

Anthropic is the reference stock for a pure-play frontier AI lab that investors assign an outsized multiple to on the basis of model progress and enterprise adoption. Zuckerberg’s thesis, as reflected on the Q2 2026 earnings call, is that Meta should trade on similar terms. He told analysts, “It’s been a little more than a year since we launched Meta Super Intelligence Labs, and our trajectory is strong.” Meta has since released MuseSpark 1.1, an agentic coding model available through its public API, and reported a 60% increase in the number of people interacting with the assistant each day since integrating Muse Spark into Meta AI.

META price scenario

The financial scaffolding under that pivot is enormous. Meta has raised full-year 2026 capex guidance to $130-145B, funded in part by long-term debt that climbed to $83.66B. Q2 2026 free cash flow collapsed to $784M vs $8.55B a year earlier, with capex hitting $30.12B in the quarter alone. The details are in Meta’s Q2 2026 earnings release filed with the SEC.

A Twist Nobody Is Saying Out Loud

Even after the sprint, Meta has essentially clawed back to flat. Over the past year the stock is up just 0.46%, meaning the vertical move Greenfield is celebrating has largely restored lost ground rather than created new highs. The 52-week range of $519.37 to $763.90 tells the same story, and insider activity has skewed toward selling across 152 recent transactions.

Polymarket traders are pricing in the enthusiasm but stopping short of a runaway. The market for whether Meta finishes the year worth more than OpenAI sits at 0.915 for Meta, and Thursday’s intraday market gave a 0.71 probability to a close above $750.

Greenfield’s Second Message: Ignore the Glasses

Meta unveiled a $1,299 VR glasses lineup and camera-less smart glasses at Meta Connect on Sept. 23. Greenfield told viewers to “almost put to the side” the hardware, arguing “The software platform is what matters” and that Meta is “betting that an agentic personal assistant with superintelligence is the future” regardless of the form factor.

His edge case rests on distribution. Meta’s 3 billion users across WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook is the pipeline into which Muse gets shipped. On the earnings call, Zuckerberg framed it identically, saying personal agents “really plays to Meta’s strengths as a company. We build consumer products that reach billions of people.” Business agents on WhatsApp and Messenger are already used by more than 1 million businesses weekly.

What to Watch Next

Meta’s Q3 2026 revenue guide is $61-64B. Sell-side sentiment already leans in: 55 buy or strong buy ratings against 7 holds and zero sells. Meta’s official investor relations page is the cleanest place to track the next filing. Watch capex commentary and Muse’s app-store persistence. If Zuckerberg’s aside at UFC 250 holds up, the re-rating still has room. If capex intensity chokes free cash flow into 2027 without model-driven revenue to match, the Anthropic comparison flips into a millstone.
