Broadcom Stock Is Up 2,500% in 10 Years. Can the AI Boom Keep It Going?

Broadcom (NASDAQ:AVGO | AVGO Price Prediction) has been one of the major wealth builders of the past decade. Over 10 years, the stock has returned 2,511.1%, rising from a split-adjusted $13.18 to $344.09 in today’s trading.

A $10,000 stake made back then would be worth about $261,110 now. So what could a new $10,000 investment be worth by 2031? AI chip sales are more than tripling year over year.

AI Revenue Is More Than Tripling

In fiscal Q3, AI semiconductor revenue came in at $16.7 billion, up 221% year over year, and made up 56% of total revenue. Management forecast Q4 AI revenue to $21.7 billion. Its outlook calls for roughly $115 billion in fiscal 2027 and $230 billion in fiscal 2028. CEO Hock Tan said Broadcom is “very much on target to exceed $30 in earnings per share in fiscal 2028.”

A Customer List Packed With Frontier AI Labs

Broadcom makes custom accelerators for six XPU customers, including Google, Anthropic, OpenAI and Meta. It signed a long-term agreement to supply future generations of Google’s TPUs, and management expects Anthropic to become its largest XPU customer in 2027.

A new Anthropic financing deal also drew attention this week (Morningstar). On costs, Tan says that custom chips can run workloads at “less than half the cost compared to GPUs” in many cases.

Cash Flow and a Reasonable Forward Multiple

Q3 free cash flow totaled $13.7 billion, or 46% of revenue, which funds a quarterly dividend of $0.65. The stock trades at about 45 times trailing earnings but only 18 times forward earnings.

Analysts lean heavily bullish, assigning 7 Strong Buy, 40 Buy, 3 Hold, as well as 0 Sell ratings. Their consensus price target is $530.14.

Risks That Could Shrink Your 2031 Payoff

  • Customer concentration: AI growth depends on a small group of hyperscalers and AI labs. If even one of them cuts orders, results could swing sharply.
  • Supply and deployment bottlenecks: Management named land, power, substrates, HBM memory and optical parts as constraints. On deployment timing, it said, “We judge conservatively that somewhat less will be deployed.”
  • Margin mix: Gross margin is expected to fall to roughly 73% in Q4, down from 78% a year ago, as lower-margin XPUs make up more of sales.
  • Debt and financing exposure: Gross fixed-rate debt stands at $59.6 billion. Residual-value guarantees linked to AI infrastructure financing also create contingent liabilities.
  • Volatility and trade policy: With a beta of 1.476, the stock tends to move more than the market. It is down 7.06% over the past year, and trade restrictions add more uncertainty.

What Your $10,000 Could Look Like in 2031

Across the model’s scenarios, a $10,000 stake in Broadcom ranges from about $13,134 in the bear case, reaching $28,004 in the bull case, with the base case at $18,034. They assume the AI expansion continues, and none of them is guaranteed.

Broadcom’s next earnings report is scheduled for December 9, 2026, and it will show whether the AI ramp is on track. This is a model-based projection for informational purposes.
