Better Buy in 2026: Pepe, Dogecoin or XRP? One Is Up 21% This Month.

Pepe, Dogecoin, and XRP each tell a completely different story heading into 2026, and the coin with the weakest foundation just left the other two in the dust. Picking the right one for the next 12 months comes down to…

Over the past 30 days, Pepe (CRYPTO:PEPE) has surged 21.3%, trading around $0.0000042 as of October 14, 2026. Over the same period, Dogecoin (CRYPTO:DOGE) rose slightly by 0.1% to about $0.084, while XRP (CRYPTO:XRP) fell 1.4% to $1.37. Among the three, Pepe stands out as the only cryptocurrency that moved significantly higher.

However, Pepe has the least backing among these coins. Both Dogecoin and XRP have established funds listed in the United States, but neither recorded any new inflows in October. If an investor were to choose just one of Pepe, Dogecoin, or XRP for the next 12 months, which one would be the best option?

Pepe, Dogecoin, and XRP Rest on Very Different Foundations

Pepe operates as a meme coin, a token that originated as an internet joke, and its supporters do not claim it offers any major utility beyond trading. With a market value of about $1.7 billion, Pepe currently trades 85.2% below its all-time high.

Dogecoin started similarly, relying largely on community support and social media attention. It has a longer trading history and a market value of approximately $13.1 billion, trading 88.5% below its all-time peak.

In contrast, XRP serves a different purpose altogether. It is the native token of the XRP Ledger, a payment network designed for fast cross-border money transfers. XRP has a market value of around $86.3 billion, and U.S. funds holding XRP have net assets of about $1.6 billion, according to SoSoValue. XRP currently trades 62.5% below its historical high.

In just 30 days, the coin with the smallest foundation—Pepe—posted the biggest gain. Despite having no payment network or listed funds, Pepe increased by 21.3%. Over the past week, Pepe gained 1.2%, while Dogecoin fell by 6.9% and XRP dropped by 6.7%.

Dogecoin and XRP Funds Have Gone Quiet in October

Interestingly, Dogecoin’s U.S. fund activity shows no new money entered those funds in October. Similarly, XRP’s U.S. funds saw zero net movement over three consecutive sessions, indicating that fund investors added and withdrew money equally. In contrast, Pepe has no listed funds, yet it surged by 21.3%.

A listed fund reflects the demand that buyers generate. Therefore, when a group of funds reports zero inflows, it signals that institutional investors, including advisors and wealth managers, have stepped back. Their pullback illustrates who is actively buying in October while the networks for XRP and Dogecoin operate as usual.

Investors should also consider each coin’s size. A modest sell-off could significantly impact Pepe’s $1.7 billion market cap, meaning its gains could disappear quickly. On the other hand, XRP’s stability, supported by $1.6 billion in funds, shows a larger pool of capital holding steady.

Moreover, Pepe’s recent price increase lacks a clear explanation. There were no announcements of new exchange listings or partnerships during its rise, leaving holders uncertain about the sustainability of this price jump.

Why XRP Is Our Pick for the Next 12 Months

A gold and silver Ripple (XRP) cryptocurrency coin is seen in a close-up, slightly angled shot, resting on a dark blue, reflective digital screen. The screen displays market data including large white numbers like '000.1', smaller white numbers such as '23536', and red text indicating a negative percentage change '-8.6026%'. A bright blue, fluctuating line graph, representing market trends, is visible across the bottom and right of the screen. The coin's upper face features a golden Ripple logo against a grid pattern.

Based on the analysis, we recommend XRP as the best investment. With a market value of about $86.3 billion, far larger than Dogecoin’s $13.1 billion, XRP benefits from a practical use case in its payments network beyond trading. Additionally, funds already holding $1.6 billion of XRP provide a clear path back for institutional demand if it returns in 2027.

Although Dogecoin has listed funds, they attracted no new investments in October, and its value still largely depends on community attention. While Pepe might continue to rise, its gains come without solid foundation or institutional support, meaning they could reverse just as quickly.

Several factors could challenge our recommendation. XRP holders might begin redeeming shares, creating outflows that could weigh on its price. Additionally, banks and payment firms could use Ripple’s network without investing significantly in XRP, raising concerns about its long-term demand. A general crypto market decline could affect all three coins, with XRP’s larger market cap offering only partial protection.

Why XRP Might Hold Up Best if Pepe’s Gains Fade

In summary, XRP appears to be the cryptocurrency with the potential for the most stability. Its main risk is the potential withdrawal of funds. In contrast, both Pepe and Dogecoin are meme coins, and their values depend heavily on public interest, making them more vulnerable. In the short term, Pepe has gained 1.5%, and XRP has increased by 0.4% over the last 24 hours.

Most of the performance gap stems from Pepe’s 30-day surge. Our outlook may change if XRP’s U.S. funds show consistent outflows or if XRP drops below the $1 mark, a level it traded at in mid-August. If fund investments pick up while Pepe starts to lose strength, the argument for choosing between Pepe, Dogecoin, or XRP could shift further in favor of XRP.
