Dogecoin Needs 1,147% to Hit $1. Solana Needs 187% for a New Record. Which Comes First?
Dogecoin fans have chased a single dollar for years while Solana bulls eye a record that already existed. One target demands the near-impossible, the other just needs a comeback, but the crypto market rarely rewards the obvious bet.

Dogecoin (CRYPTO:DOGE) needs to rise about 1,144% to reach $1, while Solana (CRYPTO:SOL) needs to rise 187% to hit a new all-time high. As of October 15, 2026, Dogecoin trades at approximately $0.080, down 5.0% in the last 24 hours and 7.8% over the past week. In contrast, Solana trades around $102, down 9.8% over the same period.
Fans of both cryptocurrencies have specific goals. Since the 2021 meme rally, Dogecoin supporters have chased the elusive $1 price point, while Solana investors aim to exceed its all-time high of about $293, reached in January 2025.
So, which target is more likely to be reached first—Dogecoin hitting $1 or Solana setting a new record?
Dogecoin at $1 Would Far Exceed Solana’s Current Value

A cryptocurrency’s market value is determined by multiplying its price by the total supply of coins currently in circulation. This gives a clearer picture of what the market thinks the entire network is worth, beyond just the price of an individual coin.
Currently, there are about 156.3 billion Dogecoins in circulation. If Dogecoin reached $1, its market value would surge to about $156.3 billion. As of October 15, Dogecoin is worth about $12.6 billion, while Solana’s market cap stands at approximately $60.2 billion. So, if Dogecoin hit $1, it would be worth about 2.6 times Solana’s current value.
Dogecoin’s challenge is compounded by its lack of a maximum supply; new coins are mined annually. Each price now implies a bigger valuation than in 2021, and even reaching its previous high of around $0.73 from May 2021—a peak it now trades 89% below—would still leave Dogecoin short of $1.
Solana also has a growing supply from staking rewards, which give new coins to holders who help secure the network. However, Solana has previously traded at its record level and is currently around 65.2% below its $293 high. Therefore, Solana needs buyers willing to value it at levels it has already reached.
Solana Has an Upgrade Scheduled, While Dogecoin Relies on Its Community

Solana’s developers have a major network upgrade planned for October 21, aimed at achieving transaction finality in about 150 milliseconds. Finality is the point at which a transaction is irreversible and permanently recorded, so faster finality enhances the network’s utility for payment and trading applications. However, technology upgrades can be delayed, and faster speeds don’t automatically mean a higher price.
On the flip side, U.S. funds invested in Solana have seen outflows in nine of the ten sessions in October, according to SoSoValue. Investors have withdrawn more than they deposited, although the funds still hold about $1.7 billion in net assets, and their investors could start buying again if sentiment improves after the upgrade.
Dogecoin, on the other hand, has no upcoming scheduled events. Its U.S. funds attracted no investment in October. This leaves Dogecoin reliant on its community, where a single viral post can spark a rally, but there’s no clear reason for buyers to keep coming back.
In terms of recent performance, Dogecoin has one advantage. It lost 7.8% over the past week while Solana dropped by 9.8%. However, a smaller weekly loss says little when you consider the 1,144% climb Dogecoin needs.
Which Will Happen First: Solana’s Record or Dogecoin’s $1?
Solana is much more likely to establish a new record before Dogecoin reaches $1, although neither scenario seems imminent. For Solana to hit a new high, the network upgrade needs to go live on October 21, its funds must shift from consistent outflows to inflows, and its price must recover the 65.2% gap to $293. Dogecoin faces a tougher climb, starting with surpassing its previous high of $0.73, while its funds remain stagnant.
This answer could change if Solana delays its upgrade and continues to see fund outflows into November, which could narrow its lead. If Dogecoin starts attracting consistent fund inflows, the meme coin could gain buyers with money behind them. Dogecoin trading above its $0.73 high before Solana reaches $293 would signal a shift in momentum. Solana’s fund flows after October 21 may offer the first clue to which comes first, Solana’s record or Dogecoin $1.
