Target likely feels like it has a target on its back when it faces daunting competitors such as Amazon and Walmart. The retailer last month announced a disappointing outlook for the fourth quarter, which includes the crucial holiday shopping season. Target’s online sales now account for 4.3% of the company’s total sales, compared with 3.5% a year ago. Despite growing its online sales, Target remains far behind the competition in e-commerce.
To get shoppers into its stores and onto target.com, the company has been promoting deals on a huge range of items this holiday season. These include substantial discounts on popular video games, consoles, and related products. For example, Grand Theft Auto V for Xbox One and Overwatch Origins Edition and LEGO Dimensions Starter Pack for PlayStation 4 can all be had for 50% off. Target also has aggressive pricing on cameras from Canon and Nikon, as well as the GoPro HERO5 Session.
The most expensive item on our list is a Samsung 65-inch Curved 4K UHD Smart TV on sale for $999.99; the cheapest is a Google Home Mini for $29. While Target is obviously hoping to lure customers interested in consumer electronics, there are also some items for the home on sale, including a Keurig coffee maker for $69.99 and a Whirlpool mini fridge for $129.99.
