An AI Rerating Hiding in Plain Sight

Seagate is having a historic year. Shares are up 232.73% year to date and 301.82% over the past 12 months, and STX is trading just 2% off its 52-week high of $1,144.18.

The move accelerated after fiscal Q4 2026, when Seagate reported revenue of $3.629 billion, up 48.49% year over year, and non-GAAP EPS of $5.71, beating consensus by 12.11%, the fourth consecutive beat. Non-GAAP gross margin expanded to 52.7% from 37.9% a year earlier. Fiscal Q1 2027 guidance points to revenue of $4.1 billion and EPS of $7.30.

Why Bulls See a Breakout Ahead

The bull case rests on durable hyperscaler storage capex. CEO Dave Mosley told analysts, “Today, AI sits at the center of nearly all customer demand conversations,” and that Seagate is “in the midst of an inference inflection.” Nearline capacity is “almost fully allocated through calendar 2027.”

The top three cloud providers have nearly doubled remaining performance obligations to $1.1 trillion. Mosaic 4 delivers up to 44 terabytes per drive, and management raised its annual revenue growth target to a minimum of 20% over the next few years. Our bull scenario targets $1,970.66.

What Could Go Wrong

Seagate carries meaningful hyperscaler concentration, ongoing BIS settlement payments, and potential dilution from Exchangeable Senior Notes due 2028. A beta of 2.09 means any AI capex pause would hit STX hard.

Seagate retired $1.40 billion in debt across FY26, shareholders’ equity swung to $2.167 billion, and Fitch upgraded the credit to investment grade. Our bear scenario lands at $1,314.55, above today’s price.

How Seagate Compares to Western Digital and NetApp

Western Digital (NASDAQ:WDC) is the cleanest comp after the February 2025 Sandisk separation.

WD posted fiscal Q4 2026 revenue of $3.75 billion, up 43.84% YoY, with non-GAAP gross margin of 54.4%, slightly above Seagate’s 52.7%. This validates the HDD margin story and suggests our STX target is grounded in a real industry rerating.

NetApp (NASDAQ:NTAP) offers the enterprise storage counterpoint, with Q1 FY27 revenue of $2.025 billion, up 29.89% YoY, and all-flash array revenue up 47%.

NetApp’s market cap of $38.4 billion versus Seagate’s $207.83 billion reinforces that the market is pricing STX as the mass-capacity infrastructure winner.

Seagate Price Prediction 2026-2030

The 24/7 Wall St. price target of $1,797.73 reflects a buy with 90% confidence. The tipping factor is build-to-order visibility through fiscal 2027 and HAMR margin leverage.

Bulls will look for hyperscaler capex commitments to hold and Mosaic 4 qualifications to continue on track. Storage is only one leg of the AI buildout, and we mapped seven other non-chipmaker suppliers riding the same wave in a free report on the companies powering the AI boom. The setup weakens if cloud customers signal a pause or if HAMR yields disappoint. For now, the setup favors the bulls.

Looking further out, here is where our model projects Seagate could trade, assuming current growth and margin trajectories hold.

Year 24/7 Wall St. Price Target
2026 $1,052.28
2027 $1,795.71
2028 $2,960.72
2029 $3,851.05
2030 $4,919.50
