USA Rare Earth Climbs 4% as Month-Long Selloff Pauses; MP Materials Ticks Up, United States Antimony Dips
A month-long selloff in domestic rare earth stocks is pausing, but the relief is landing unevenly across the sector, and the name that fell hardest now faces a critical test that could either extend the bounce or bring the selling…
The rare earth selloff is taking a breather, and the stock that fell hardest is rebounding most sharply. USA Rare Earth (NASDAQ:USAR) stock has gained 4%, lately fetching $10.77, a welcome turn for shares that remain down 31% over the past month.
Weeks of steady pressure on domestic critical minerals names came before the rebound, and USA Rare Earth shares took more of that damage than most, so a single green session does little to repair a slide of that depth.
USA Rare Earth Bounces Hardest After Falling Hardest
However, United States Antimony (NYSEAMERICAN:UAMY) stock is down 0.9% to $2.76, slipping as USA Rare Earth stock climbs. MP Materials (NYSE:MP) stock is up 2% to $40.82, trailing the gain in USA Rare Earth stock. Shares of United States Antimony and MP Materials are trading against the background of the same month-long group selloff.
United States Antimony shares are on the wrong side of the rare earth bounce, moving opposite USA Rare Earth and MP Materials shares. Such a split shows the relief spreading unevenly across critical minerals names.
Gains Stay Concentrated in Two Names
The VanEck Rare Earth and Strategic Metals ETF (NYSEARCA:REMX) is down 0.9% to $55.26, falling alongside United States Antimony stock. That pattern shows the bounce reaching shares of USA Rare Earth and MP Materials while leaving the rest of the group behind.
Meanwhile, the SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (NYSEARCA:SPY) is up by only 0.1% to $770.43, so the broad market is offering little lift.
Building Capacity Versus Running It
USA Rare Earth is building domestic capacity to process rare earth material and produce magnets, so its value rests on production it hasn’t yet brought online. This setup gives USA Rare Earth stock meaningful upside if construction goes to plan and leaves it vulnerable to delays. Until those plants run, sentiment around construction progress may drive much of the trading in USA Rare Earth stock.
Funding forms the other half of the USA Rare Earth story. The company’s government-backed funding package is structured around milestones, so the money arrives in stages as USA Rare Earth hits construction and production targets. That structure ties the company’s financing directly to execution, which makes each project update matter for USA Rare Earth shares.
Funding Milestones Set the Next Test
Up next for USA Rare Earth is whether it reaches the construction milestones its funding is tied to. Hitting those targets could unlock more of the staged funding. It would also strengthen the case for USA Rare Earth stock, while a missed deadline could revive the selling pressure that defined the past month.
Investors should keep their exposure to USA Rare Earth stock modest while the group’s selloff is only pausing, since one strong session after a steep slide can reverse quickly. MP Materials stock is offering some support to the rare earth theme, yet United States Antimony shares and REMX are still slipping.
Shareholders can leave room to add to their positions once the funding milestones are met. USA Rare Earth’s progress at its plants could show whether this relief bounce holds.
