XRP Price Prediction: Analyst Says XRP Could Reach $60 But It Has to Close Above $3.66 First

A decade-long chart pattern points to a stunning XRP price target, but it comes with a critical condition the coin has never once managed to meet in its entire trading history.

XRP (CRYPTO: XRP) trades around $1.42 today, up 39% over the past 30 days but still down 22% since January 1 and 52% over the past 12 months.

A $60 target for XRP has been circulating since September 5, based on a decade-long chart pattern that requires the cryptocurrency to first close a month above $3.66. The projection does not specify when that could happen or how long the pattern would take to play out.

With XRP still at $1.42, the bigger question is whether a $60 target carries much weight before the coin can first reclaim the level that would activate the pattern.

The $60 XRP Price Prediction and the Pattern Behind It

The pattern behind the $60 call is an ascending triangle on XRP’s monthly chart that has developed over roughly a decade, with $3.66 forming the flat resistance ceiling. The $60 figure only comes into play if XRP’s price closes a full calendar month above that level. In other words, an intraday move above $3.66 would not be enough. XRP would need to hold above the ceiling through the month’s final trading day.

That makes a monthly close a much higher hurdle than simply touching the level. XRP would have to withstand weeks of profit-taking, volatility, and macroeconomic news before confirming the breakout.

An ascending triangle forms when price records higher lows while repeatedly testing a relatively flat resistance level. Technical analysts often interpret that structure as evidence that buying pressure is building toward a potential breakout. Once the breakout occurs, the measured-move approach projects the triangle’s height above the breakout point to estimate a potential price target, which is where the $60 figure comes from.

However, neither the pattern nor the target guarantees a particular outcome. Chart formations can fail, and a decade-long pattern on a monthly chart leaves plenty of room for interpretation because it spans relatively few monthly price points.

XRP Has Never Closed a Month Above $3.66

XRP has crossed $3 several times, but it has never finished a month above the $3.66 threshold required to trigger the $60 chart projection. The table below shows the months when XRP came closest to or traded above $3.

Month Open Monthly High Monthly Low
January 2018 $2.29 $3.84 $0.89
January 2025 $2.08 $3.38 $2.07
February 2025 $3.03 $3.06 $1.94
July 2025 $2.23 $3.65 $2.15
August 2025 $3.02 $3.37 $2.74
September 2025 $2.77 $3.18 $2.70
October 2025 $2.84 $3.09 $1.52

XRP’s strongest attempt remains January 2018, with the monthly high reaching $3.84. That move shows XRP can trade above the $3.66 threshold, but it also highlights the difference between touching a level and sustaining it. XRP has not produced the required monthly close above $3.66.

The closest recent attempt came in July 2025, when XRP reached $3.65, just $0.0098 below the threshold. The token then failed to maintain its momentum, with its monthly high falling to $3.37 in August, $3.18 in September, and $3.09 in October.

XRP spent much of 2026 trading around the low $1 range, leaving the $3.66 breakout level well above its current price of $1.42. XRP would need a 158% gain just to reach $3.66.

The $60 target is a much bigger hurdle. XRP would need to climb about 4,127% from $1.42, taking the price more than 42 times higher. Before that target becomes relevant, XRP first needs to reclaim $3.66 and prove it can hold above that level through a full monthly close.

Can XRP Reach $60?

A $60 XRP target remains highly speculative at $1.42. XRP would need to gain 158% just to reach $3.66, the level that activates the ascending triangle. Getting there would likely require several of XRP’s major catalysts to turn positive at the same time, including progress on the CLARITY Act, stronger institutional demand, sustained ETF inflows, and a supportive broader crypto market.

If those catalysts help XRP push through $3.66, the next test would be whether buyers can hold the price above that level through a full monthly close. That confirmation would complete the breakout from the decade-long pattern and put the measured $60 target into play.

Until then, the pattern offers little evidence to support a move to $60. The target is therefore best viewed as a conditional projection, not a forecast that XRP is already on track to achieve.
