BNB Is Up Nearly 4% This Week, but Its $100 Billion Market Cap Hasn’t Held. What’s Going On?
BNB just beat Bitcoin, XRP, and Solana over the past week, yet something stopped the rally cold before it could stick. The answer lies in a specific market-cap milestone BNB crossed and then lost within days.
BNB (CRYPTO: BNB) trades around $715, with a market capitalization near $95.25 billion. The token is down 1% today but remains up nearly 4% over the past week. BNB ranks fourth among cryptocurrencies by market cap, behind Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Tether.
Over the same week, Bitcoin (CRYPTO: BTC) is essentially flat at 0%, XRP (CRYPTO: XRP) is up 0.16%, and Solana (CRYPTO: SOL) is down 0.39%. So what pulled an exchange token ahead of three networks, and does one week mean anything?
BNB Reclaimed Its $100 Billion Market Cap

BNB reached its all-time high of $1,370 on October 13, 2025, during a liquidation event that hit the broader crypto market. With roughly 133 million tokens in circulation, BNB’s market value was close to $190 billion at the time. At $715 now, the token remains nearly 48% below that record and would need a 91.6% gain to return. The more immediate test has been the $100 billion market-cap level, which BNB crossed earlier this week before falling back to about $95.25 billion.
The move above $100 billion looked encouraging, but BNB could not hold the milestone for long. The token gave up some of its gains within hours, dropping back below the threshold within days. The next question is whether buyers can push the market cap back above $100 billion and keep it there.
BNB is an exchange token tied closely to Binance, so its use and demand are connected to trading activity, reduced fees for holders, Binance programs, and applications built around the exchange ecosystem. That gives BNB a different source of demand from Bitcoin, XRP, and Solana. BNB Chain has also handled close to $3 billion in weekly tokenized stock trading volume this year, giving BNB exposure to activity that does not directly affect the other three assets.
Binance’s founder also received a pardon, adding another exchange-specific development that can influence sentiment around BNB without having the same effect on Bitcoin, XRP, or Solana.
XRP and Solana Pull Ahead This Month as BNB Brings Up the Rear

Over the past 30 days, XRP has gained 33.65% and Solana 31.71%, putting both comfortably ahead of Bitcoin’s 20.94% gain and BNB’s 19.39%. That changes the picture from the weekly performance, when BNB was the strongest of the four. BNB’s 3.86% gain over the past seven days shows it has picked up momentum recently, but it still trails the other three over a full month.
Bitcoin is down 11.66% from its 2026 opening price of $87,500, while BNB has fallen 17.23% from $864. Solana is down 19.63% from $124, and XRP has dropped 26.53% from $1.84. Each opening price represents the level the asset would need to recover to finish 2026 at the same price where it started. BNB therefore has more ground to recover than Bitcoin, although its decline remains smaller than Solana’s and XRP’s.
However, over the last twelve months, BNB is down 18.70%, making it the best performer of the four. Bitcoin is down 30.71%, Solana is down 53.96%, and XRP has fallen 54.15%. BNB’s smaller annual decline suggests its recent weakness hasn’t erased the relative strength it has shown over the longer period.
Does One Week Mean Anything?
BNB’s weekly gain is relatively small, even though the token outperformed the other three during the same period. The move came while its market cap briefly crossed $100 billion before falling back below that level within days. That makes the weekly gain less convincing on its own because BNB has not yet held the market-cap milestone it recently reclaimed.
The clearest test now is whether BNB can move back above $100 billion and stay there. So far, it has not managed to do that. The market cap crossed the threshold, then reversed, leaving BNB at about $95.25 billion.
Until buyers can hold above $100 billion, the October 2025 record near $1,370 remains a long way away, and the recent weekly gain looks more like a short-term improvement than a confirmed change in direction.
