About BioCryst Pharmaceuticals
BioCryst Pharmaceuticals is a global biotechnology company focused on developing and commercializing medicines for hereditary angioedema (HAE) and other rare diseases. Its primary commercial product is ORLADEYO (berotralstat), the first oral, once-daily plasma kallikrein inhibitor approved for prevention of HAE attacks, now available in both capsule and oral pellet formulations (the latter for pediatric patients). The company also markets RAPIVAB (peramivir injection) for influenza. BioCryst's pipeline includes navenibart, a long-acting subcutaneous plasma kallikrein inhibitor in pivotal trials for HAE with every-three-month and every-six-month dosing, and BCX17725, an investigational KLK5 inhibitor in Phase 1 for Netherton syndrome. The company acquired Astria Therapeutics in January 2026 to gain navenibart and subsequently licensed European commercialization rights to an affiliate of Neopharmed Gentili. BioCryst sold its European ORLADEYO commercial operations to Neopharmed Gentili S.p.A. in October 2025 and has shifted its R&D strategy from internal discovery toward external innovation, discontinuing internal discovery programs and closing its Birmingham research facility.
