About AMD
AMD designs high-performance and AI computing products and reports three segments.
- **Data Center:** AI accelerators (Instinct GPUs), EPYC server CPUs, GPUs, APUs, DPUs, AI network interface cards, FPGAs and adaptive SoCs. It also sells rack-scale systems such as Helios, which pair Instinct MI450 Series GPUs with 6th Gen EPYC CPUs and are deployed by customers including Anthropic, Meta, Microsoft, OpenAI and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
- **Client and Gaming:** Ryzen desktop and notebook CPUs and APUs, chipsets, Radeon discrete GPUs, and semi-custom SoCs and development services for game consoles.
- **Embedded:** Embedded CPUs and APUs, FPGAs, system-on-modules and adaptive SoCs such as Versal, serving aerospace and defense, automotive, communications and industrial markets.
AMD also develops the open ROCm software stack for AI developers. It is expanding across the AI stack through pending acquisitions of World Labs (model research) and Taalas (specialized inference silicon). Manufacturing is outsourced to third-party foundries and contract manufacturers. AMD divested ZT Systems' manufacturing business in Q4 2025. Updated
A 6% dip in the S&P 500 hid a full-blown bear market in chip equipment names, with Lam Research down 58% from its high at Thursday's low. Dip buyers are picking from very different discount racks.
DraftKings opened down nearly 29% at $16.63, a 40-point gap between it and the day's top gainer across our 379-stock board. Semis and travel took the other side, with Lam Research, Airbnb and AMD all up 8% or more.
AppLovin is pulling in more chatter than the rest of the board combined, with 2,839 comments and traders leaning bullish. Memory and chip names like Micron, AMD and CoreWeave have the crowd divided, while leveraged semis are heating up fast and Qualcomm talk is souring.
This is psychology/social engineering mixed with algorithms designed to take profits in this zero sum game. Yes some of these deserve to crash hard as they are not sustainable, but a lot of what is going down has absolutely no reason for it to.
467 comments on one post asking why semis and AI names are halving shows retail is still hunting for a reason. "It seems like a buying opportunity" carries no weight when you cannot name what changed.
Roughly $65 billion of market value disappeared in one session at this $669 billion AI-chip bellwether. Moves this size are rare here, and they tend to set the tone for the rest of the group.
With AI names down 10% or more, 341 comments argue over whether regulatory noise justifies the selloff, and the top replies show retail is out of dry powder. Dip buying only works if you still have cash when the dip arrives.
Definitely a huge overreaction. Just look at AMD and SK Hynix earnings and guidance, companies are still heavily invested in data centers for 2027.
It’s a good time to buy some semi stocks now.
A 3-for-1 split made the semiconductor ETF look like it halved overnight, and 157 comments piled in before the poster caught the error. Check corporate actions before you panic sell, or before you buy someone else's panic.
A single session just erased four months of gains in one of the most crowded AI chip trades, and the rest of the semiconductor complex rarely sits out a move this size.
BREAKING: Advanced Micro Devices, $AMD, plunges -12.2%, hitting its lowest level since July. https://t.co/HXiHJgJafD
Retail traders are piling into the AI trade again, staying bullish on AMD, Super Micro and Microsoft, while Alphabet draws the biggest argument of the day at 346 comments. Trump Media is souring fast after the midterms, and Meta chatter is heating up.
