3 AI Networking Stocks Quietly Dominating Their Niche in August

The AI infrastructure trade has shifted toward the connectivity layer: the switches, optics, and interconnects that move data between GPUs, racks, and data centers. August is shaping up as the month that thesis pays off in earnings and guidance, with hyperscaler capex funneling into the networking stack surrounding every AI cluster.

Three names sit at the center of that shift. Each dominates a specific niche within AI networking, each delivered a quarter validating the thesis, and each trades with a different setup heading into the back half of 2026.

Arista Networks (NYSE: ANET)

Arista Networks (NYSE:ANET | ANET Price Prediction) is the switching backbone of hyperscale AI data centers. First-quarter fiscal 2026 revenue landed at $2.71 billion, up 35.1% year over year, beating estimates by 3.45%. Non-GAAP EPS of $0.87 topped the $0.81 consensus, marking the fourth consecutive quarter of beating EPS expectations. Operating cash flow more than doubled to $1.69 billion, and free cash flow surged 167.24% year over year.

Arista is the merchant Ethernet spine for AI training clusters. Deferred revenue of $826.2 million in the March quarter reflects locked-in customer commitments. The company’s new XPO MSA liquid-cooled pluggable optics reduce networking racks by up to 75%, and the Universal AI Spine on the 7800 platform absorbs microbursts that would choke competing designs. CEO Jayshree Ullal said Arista is "uniquely positioned to deliver the mission-critical confluence of secure client-to-campus-to-cloud and AI networking." Analyst consensus reflects that conviction: 97% bullish, with 29 buy or strong buy ratings against one hold and an analyst target of $192.31.

Shares closed July at $180.35, up 8.24% for the month and 37.64% year to date.

The risk: Gross margin compressed to 62.4% from 64.1% as AI mix expanded, and revenue remains concentrated in a small pool of hyperscalers. A pause in any one customer’s capex cycle would be felt quickly.

Marvell Technology (NASDAQ: MRVL)

Marvell Technology (NASDAQ:MRVL) is the recovery candidate in this trio. First-quarter fiscal 2027 revenue hit $2.418 billion, up 27.6% year over year, with data center revenue climbing to $1.833 billion, or 76% of the total. Non-GAAP operating margin expanded to 35.0%, and free cash flow jumped 126.81% year over year.

MRVL price target

CEO Matt Murphy told investors, "We are seeing exceptional AI-related bookings, and as a result, we are significantly raising Marvell’s revenue outlook for both fiscal 2027 and fiscal 2028." Second-quarter guidance calls for revenue of $2.700 billion, plus or minus 5%, implying roughly 35% year-over-year growth, with EPS of $0.93 plus or minus $0.05. The pipeline spans 800G and 1.6T scale-out optics, 51.2T Ethernet switches, and custom XPU solutions, reinforced by the recent Celestial AI and XConn acquisitions.

The stock fell 31.04% from $271.98 to $187.56 in July, but year-to-date return sits at 121.03%. Analysts remain constructive with a target of $256.91 and 86% bullish consensus.

The risk: GAAP net income in the March quarter was only $34.5M, weighed down by a $331.8M fair value charge tied to acquisitions. Integration slippage or another hyperscaler pause would extend the pullback.

Credo Technology (NASDAQ: CRDO)

Credo Technology (NASDAQ:CRDO) is the smallest name and most explosive. Fourth-quarter fiscal 2026 revenue reached $437.0 million, up 157.0% year over year, with non-GAAP EPS of $1.16 topping the $1.03 consensus by 12.17%. Full-year revenue landed at $1.34 billion, up 205.68%, and non-GAAP net income increased more than five times to $662 million.

CRDO analyst ratings

CEO Bill Brennan framed the year plainly: "Fiscal 2026 marked another defining year for Credo. For the year, revenue more than tripled to $1.3 billion, and non-GAAP net income increased more than five times to $662 million." Credo’s Active Electrical Cables dominate a niche that hyperscalers rely on to stitch together GPU clusters. The company recently announced three new multi-billion-dollar TAM expansions in ZeroFlap optics, Active Line Cards, and OmniConnect memory solutions. First-quarter fiscal 2027 guidance calls for revenue of $465 million to $475 million. Credo was flagged by Yahoo Finance on July 23, 2026 as one of four networking semi stocks to watch in August.

Shares finished July at $206.99, down 20.11% for the month after a sharp June rally, but still up 85.56% over the past year. Analyst target sits at $279.29, with 18 buy ratings against one hold.

The risk: Valuation is elevated at a P/E near 71, insiders have been selling with 231 recent transactions net direction selling, and inventory nearly tripled year over year. New product categories are expected to compress gross margins as they scale.

What to Watch in August

Marvell’s fiscal second-quarter earnings report is the near-term catalyst. If Murphy reiterates accelerating bookings, expect the AI networking group to move together. Arista trades at roughly 1% below its 52-week high, so incremental positioning depends on the next capex data point. Credo remains the highest-beta way to play the interconnect surge, with beta near 3.2. The connectivity layer of AI infrastructure is broadening, and August will show whether the market keeps paying up for it.
