Prediction: Alphabet Stock Could Be Worth $700 by 2030
Alphabet's cloud backlog just hit $514 billion and CEO Sundar Pichai is growing more bullish by the day, yet the stock barely budged. Here is what has to happen for shares to double by 2030.
Alphabet (NASDAQ:GOOG | GOOG Price Prediction | GOOG Price Prediction) runs Google Search and YouTube, and it now also runs one of the fastest-growing clouds on the planet. Google Cloud revenue rose 82% to $24.77 billion last quarter, and backlog reached $514 billion.
Yet the stock is up just 10.59% year to date. The business is speeding up while the stock stalls. CEO Sundar Pichai said “over the past year, we’ve gotten more bullish on the opportunities ahead.” So can Alphabet hit $700 by 2030?
What’s Holding Alphabet Back Right Now
The issue is cash. Capex hit $44.92 billion in Q2, up 100.14%, and free cash flow turned to negative $5.86 billion. Long-term debt climbed from $46.5 billion to $98.2 billion, and the buyback was suspended. Shares fell 6.89% on earnings day despite a huge EPS beat.
Momentum since then is modest: up 1.64% over a week and 3.29% over a month, still below the $403.96 52-week high. A beta of 1.211 means swings run larger than the market. Until spending turns into visible free cash flow, shares may stay range-bound.
Wall Street Sees 21% Upside. Our Model Says 26%
The consensus target is $419.65, about 21.2% upside, backed by 13 strong buys, 42 buys, 5 holds and zero sells. The base case sits at $436.85, or 26.39% upside, with a range of $369.53 to $454.13. Model confidence of 0.7 signals solid but measured conviction.
The long-term view looks too conservative. Analysts are 92% bullish, and earnings growth adds a 0.03 contribution to our model, yet the five-year base case only reaches $685.35 by October 2031. A $514 billion backlog argues for more.
Here’s What It Takes for Alphabet to Reach $700
A climb to $700 from today’s price of $346.34 would require a gain of 102.1%.
With 2027 consensus EPS of $15.0715, $700 would mean a forward P/E of 46x. The base case of $436.85 already implies 29x, so the bold target requires 17x of additional multiple expansion.
That looks steep, and time is what fixes it. If EPS compounds 15% a year after 2027, 2030 earnings reach roughly $22.92, and $700 falls to about 31x. The 1.12 adjustment factor reflects strong consensus and earnings acceleration.
The catalysts are concrete. Alphabet expects to recognize just over 50% of the backlog within 24 months. TPU system revenue ramps as Alphabet exits 2026, with most of it landing in 2027.
All of that compute has to be powered, cooled, and networked by somebody, and we rounded up seven of those suppliers in a free AI infrastructure report.
The Gemini app has 950 million monthly users, and Google just launched a Gemini AI agent to compete with OpenAI and Microsoft. Pichai added, “We are now training Gemini 4, and we’ve been very ambitious with it.” The biggest risk is that capex keeps outpacing returns and drags down free cash flow for years.
Where Alphabet Trades Today vs. Its Earnings Power
At $346.34, shares trade at about 23x 2027 estimates. With revenue growing 24.23% and operating margin at 34%, that multiple looks cheap.
Shares sit between a $236.07 low and a $403.96 high. Over ten years, the stock has returned 802.2%. Today’s reasonable multiple leaves room for the upside scenario to play out.
Is $700 Realistic? Here’s My Take
A move to $700 would take a 102.1% gain. My verdict: it’s a stretch, but it can be done by 2030.
Three things would need to go right. Cloud backlog has to convert on schedule, free cash flow has to turn positive again once the expansion is completed, and Gemini 4 has to keep Google at the frontier. A sharp decline in AI demand would disrupt it. Gains like this won’t happen every year, but we’ve outlined the blueprint for how Alphabet could reach $700 in 2030.
