Will the $26B Endeavor Merger Fuel a Massive Earnings Beat for FANG?
Diamondback Energy heads into its Q3 report with a $26 billion merger integration underway, costs under pressure, and Wall Street expecting an 82% earnings jump. Whether the Endeavor deal actually delivers on its promises becomes clear Monday after the bell.
Diamondback Energy (NASDAQ:FANG | FANG Price Prediction) reports third-quarter results on Monday, November 2, after the close. The company has not yet confirmed the date. Shares are up 40.12% year to date and estimates keep climbing, so expectations are high going in.
Record Volumes and $96 Oil Raised the Bar
Last quarter, Diamondback posted adjusted EPS of $6.48, beating the $5.98 consensus. Revenue of $5.56B exceeded the $4.95B estimate. Realized oil reached $96.82/Bbl, compared with $63.23/Bbl a year earlier, as the Strait of Hormuz disruption drained global stocks. Total production also crossed 1M BOE/d, hitting 1,018 MBOE/d.
Free cash flow came in at $2.33B, net debt fell about $1.6B, and the board doubled the buyback authorization to $16.0B. Management raised its full-year oil guidance to 522+ MBO/d and held cash capex at ~$3.9B. Since then, Waha gas prices turned positive in July, and the stock has gained 10.96% over the past month.

Endeavor Synergies and Cost Discipline Take Center Stage
This report is another checkpoint for the $26 billion Endeavor merger. On the last call, CFO Jere Thompson said the controllable LOE numbers “look as good as they’ve ever looked,” and he credited the Endeavor integration, a pump-by-exception model and automation. Endeavor also contributed the Wolfcamp D acreage, where management said it is meeting its $300 a foot stretch goal.
The question is whether those gains hold cash operating costs near Q2’s $10.96/BOE. Management expects LOE in the “$6 or slightly higher range” for the back half, with power, water and pipe inflation flowing through. It also noted higher casing prices adding “a little over 1% of total well cost”.
Volume is the next test. Q3 guidance calls for 517-527 MBO/d of oil on capex of $950-$1,050 million. Gas prices also warrant attention, since Q2’s figure was -$2.15/Mcf before Waha recovered. Finally, watch how management splits cash between buybacks, with about $9.9B of authorization left, and paying down the $12.8B in debt.
A Chance to Prove Scale Pays Beyond the Oil Spike
Diamondback beat revenue estimates in all 8 quarters on record. However, EPS missed by 13.16% as recently as Q4 2025. High oil prices raised every Permian producer. What sets Diamondback apart is rising output on flat spending, supported by Endeavor’s acreage. If management shows that combination again, the merger case gets stronger no matter where oil goes next.
