Shopify Price Prediction: Wall Street Sees More Upside Than We Do
Shopify just surged on a blockbuster Meta checkout deal while Wall Street lines up behind a target far above where we stand. Here is why our more cautious number still makes a compelling case for buying.

A Whipsaw Year Meets a Blistering Quarter
Shopify has been volatile. The stock is down 8.39% year to date and off 3.8% over the past year.
Yet fundamentals accelerate. In Q2 2026, revenue climbed 33.7% to $3.58 billion, GMV rose 32% to $115.57 billion, operating income jumped 67.7%, and free cash flow reached $654 million at an 18% margin. Today’s Meta Muse checkout deal reinforces that Shopify is becoming the transaction rails for agentic commerce.
Why Bulls See a Breakout Above $175
Wall Street’s consensus $172.77 target, backed by 11 Strong Buys and 30 Buys, implies upside. Our bull scenario reaches $189.97.
Drivers include: Shopify Payments handles 68% of global GMV, ShopPay GMV grew 53% year over year, AI-driven traffic tripled in Q2, and B2B GMV surged 76%. President Harley Finkelstein noted Shopify has captured “less than 1% of global retail sales,” framing a runway for sustained 30%-plus growth.
What Could Go Wrong
Valuation is the headline risk. Shopify trades at 53x forward earnings and 67x EV/EBITDA. Transaction and loan losses climbed to $141 million from $80 million a year ago as Shopify Capital scales.
CFO Jeff Hoffmeister described payments and credit loss rates as “normalized.” Beta of 2.62 makes SHOP volatile in macro wobbles. Our bear case sits at $133.39.
How Shopify Compares to Amazon and BigCommerce
Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) trades at 36 P/E with Q2 2026 revenue of $200.6 billion growing 19.6%. Its multiple is roughly a third of Shopify’s on a forward basis, framing the premium for SHOP’s faster growth.
BigCommerce (NASDAQ:BIGC) is the direct SaaS comp. Q2 2026 revenue grew 0.1% to $84.5 million, with GMV up 14%. Against that, Shopify’s 33.7% revenue growth and 32% GMV expansion justify a premium multiple.
Bottom Line: A Measured Buy
The 24/7 Wall St. price target of $154.30 is a buy with 90% confidence. Operating leverage is key: 67.7% operating income growth on 33.7% revenue growth sustains a premium multiple.
The bull case strengthens if Q3 free cash flow lands in the high-teens to low-twenties margin range. The bear case gains traction if transaction losses outpace revenue or if the Meta and AI narrative fails to translate into GMV.
