Wal-Mart Guide to Holiday Gun Buying

Thinkstock

Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (NYSE: WMT) sells guns, and sells a lot of them. Regardless of opinions on gun control, people who want a gun should check out the rifles shown at Walmart.com. These guns are, however, only available in stores. Christmas is over. That does not mean some of the most popular guns Wal-Mart sells are not on sale (if Wal-Mart offers gun discounts at all).

The guns Walmart sells are considered part of its “Outdoor Sport” department.

Wal-Mart has a large selection of Remington rifles, among the most popular in the United States. Included among those available in Wal-Mart stores:

  • Remington Pump Shotgun 870 Express Combo
  • Remington 770 Rifle with Scope, .308 Win
  • Remington 870 Express Youth Shotgun, 20ga

Some of the guns are built by Savage:

  • Savage Axis 270 Bolt Rifle, Camo
  • Savage Axis 7mm-08 Bolt Rifle SS

For those who need to find the closest Wal-Mart, Walmart.com does have a store locator. However, many of the guns we looked for were out of stock.

Walmart CEO Douglas McMillon told CNN that “Our focus in terms of firearms should be hunters and people who shoot sporting clays, and things like that. So the types of rifles we sell, the types of ammunition we sell, should be curated for those things.”

However, Wal-Mart remains one of the better places in the United States to buy guns, for hunters at least.
