Apple has surged nearly 50% in a year and just posted its ninth straight earnings beat, so the $400 question is back on the table. Our model has a clear answer, and it might surprise the bulls.

The question deserves a direct answer: Apple is a great business, but a $400 price level by December is not what our model sees. Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL | AAPL Price Prediction) currently trades at $312.41, and our 24/7 Wall St. price target for the next 12 months sits at $359.28, implying roughly 15% of upside.

Our confidence level is 90%, and the action call is buy. The $400 handle is a 2028 story in our base case, not a 2026 one.

An infographic titled 'AAPL NASDAQ 12-Month Price Prediction'. It prominently displays the Current Price of $312.41 (Aug 7, 2026) and a Target Price of $359.28, indicating a +15% increase and a 'BUY' recommendation with 90% Confidence. The 'How We Got There' section shows values for Trailing P/E-Based Price ($312.41), Forward P/E-Based Price ($314.83), and Analyst Consensus ($324.01), converging to a Weighted Base of $317.10. The 'Our Adjustments' section illustrates the Weighted Base of $317.10, showing an increase (depicted as a green bar labeled '$317.10' at the top, and described as '+247Factor (1.133 Multiplier)' due to Sector Momentum, Earnings Growth (+28.7%), and Analyst Consensus (61% Bullish)). This is followed by a decrease due to '-Mega-Cap Dampening' (Market Cap: $4.54T), leading to the Final Target of $359.28. Separate sections detail a 'BULL CASE' with factors like iPhone Growth (+21.7%) and iPhone 18 Launch, targeting $374.90. The 'BEAR CASE' lists concerns such as Valuation (P/E 35x, PEG 2.5) and Market Sentiment (Bearish), with a target of $310.46. The bottom line reiterates the 'BUY' recommendation for $359.28 (+15%) with 90% Confidence.

A Pullback Inside a Powerful Run

Apple has ripped from $212.40 a year ago to $312.41, a 47.08% one-year gain and 15.13% year-to-date. Shares are off 6.3% in the past week after tagging a 52-week high of $344.57.

The pullback followed a strong fiscal Q3 earnings report on July 30, 2026: revenue of $109.42 billion, up 16.4%, and EPS of $2.02 versus $1.89 expected, the ninth straight beat. iPhone revenue rose to $54.25 billion, and Services hit $30.74 billion.

A Reddit thread flagged $2.2 billion in tariff refunds, which added an estimated $0.11 to EPS and roughly two points of gross margin, so investors are right to discount some of the quarter as one-time.

The Case for a Breakout Above Our Target

Bulls have real ammunition. iPhone is running at +21.7% growth for two consecutive quarters on the iPhone 17 cycle, and prediction markets put the odds of an iPhone 18 launch this year at 97%, with foldable iPhone probability at 86.5%.

Apple’s capex-to-revenue sits at roughly 1.8%, versus 37.5% at Alphabet, meaning free cash flow does not have to be sacrificed to AI infrastructure. Buybacks of $62.09 billion through nine months and a fresh $100 billion authorization are shrinking the share count aggressively. Our bull-case one-year finish is $374.90, a 20% total return.

What Could Go Wrong

The bear case starts with valuation. Apple trades at 35x trailing and 32x forward earnings with a PEG of 2.457. Reddit surfaced a report that memory supplier CXMT rebuffed Apple’s price-cut demand, hinting at margin risk if suppliers regain leverage.

Insider activity has been net selling, and prediction markets assign only a 0.6% probability to a $384 level in August, let alone $400. Our bear-case one-year target is $310.46. Elevated R&D, which jumped to $11.73 billion from $8.9 billion, represents purposeful investment in Siri AI and future product lines.

How Apple Compares to Microsoft and Alphabet

Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) is the closest quality comp on scale and Services-like recurring revenue. Microsoft trades at a P/E of 28 with a 46.8% operating margin, versus Apple’s 32%. Microsoft’s premium reflects 43% Azure growth. On that basis, Apple’s 32x forward multiple looks defensible but not cheap.

Alphabet (NASDAQ:GOOGL) is the valuation counterpoint. Alphabet trades at just 16x earnings despite 24.2% revenue growth and 82% Google Cloud growth. Bears will argue Apple should not trade at more than double Alphabet’s multiple with slower top-line growth. On this comparison, our $359 target looks reasonable, and a $400 level would push Apple to a valuation the peer group does not support.

AAPL price scenario

Apple Price Prediction 2026-2030

The 24/7 Wall St. price target of $359.28 with 90% confidence and a buy rating is the verdict. The tie-breaker is quality of earnings: nine consecutive beats, expanding Services, and a fortress balance sheet.

The setup looks constructive if Apple holds the $309 50-day moving average and iPhone 18 ships on schedule. The thesis weakens if margin pressure from suppliers combines with a China slowdown into the December quarter. $400 this year is unlikely. $400 by 2028 is very much on the table.

Here is where our model projects Apple could trade, assuming current growth trajectories hold.

Year 24/7 Wall St. Price Target
2026 $325
2027 $359
2028 $400
2029 $445
2030 $493

These projections assume Apple continues executing on iPhone, Services, and Siri AI. Meaningful upside or downside could come from a foldable iPhone hit or an escalation of the China tariff picture.
