Asia Closes Up Modestly, Europe Opens the Same

The Nikkei closed up 0.16% to 8,514 on faint hopes that the Italy situation will begin to resolve with the election of a new government.
The Hang Seng was higher by 0.91 to 19,137.
Stocks ticked up at the open in Europe.
The FTSE was up 0.51% to 5,471.
The DAX traded higher by 0.09 to 5,873.
Oil was steady at $97.66.
