Microsoft (MSFT) Nixes Breakup

Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) killed off talk about breaking up the company when the issue was raised at its annual meeting. Many investors believe that the firm’s game console and search operations should not be aligned with the Windows and business software operations.

CEO Steve Ballmer said, “The amount of synergy across our product activities is very high. There’s nothing I see as creating fundamental value in splitting the company up. Having minority investments makes it harder to manage synergies.”
