JetBlue Traffic Gains in January (JBLU)

JetBlue Airways Corporation (NASDAQ: JBLU) showed that its sales data in January is heading in the right direction.  The gains might not be enough for those who have been so skeptical of this and other airlines, but stories of gains are still net-positive today.

JetBlue said that January 2012 traffic gained by a total of 13.3 percent over traffic results from January 2011.  Its traffic was up 1% higher than the gain in capacity of 12.3 percent as it continued to expand.

The airline’s load factor in January 2012 was 80.7 percent, up by a total of 0.7 percent from the January 2011 load factor.

The company showed that completion factor was 99.7 percent; on-time performance was 81.1 percent; and passenger revenue per available seat mile increased by 10 percent year over year for January data.

So far there is no reaction in the stock.  It usually takes large monthly changes to create moves.  JetBlue’s stock is down 1.6% at $5.84 on only 1.5 million shares and the 52-week trading range is $3.40 to $6.45.
