Express, SunPower Wind Up in Wednesday's 52-Week Low Club

August 24, 2016: Here are four stocks trading with relatively heavy volume among 22 equities making new 52-week lows in Wednesday’s session. NYSE decliners led advancers by more than 2 to 1 and Nasdaq decliners led advancers by just over 2 to 1.

Express Inc. (NYSE: EXPR) dropped nearly 26% on Wednesday to post a new 52-week low of $11.89 after closing at $16.03 on Tuesday. The stock’s 52-week high is $21.57. Volume totaled more than 22 million shares, about 10 times the daily average of around 2.25 million shares. The specialty retailer’s stock skidded following a disappointing earnings report this morning.

Noble Corp. plc (NYSE: NE) lost about 0.4% Wednesday to post a new 52-week low of $5.91 after closing Tuesday at $6.14. The 52-week high is $14.64. Volume of around 6 million was about 25% below the daily average of around 8.8 million. The company had no specific news Wednesday.

Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. (NASDAQ: NCLH) dropped about 2.1% on Wednesday to post a new 52-week low of $36.90 against a 52-week high of $64.27. Volume of around 1.8 million was about 20% below the daily average of around 2.2 million. The stock closed at $37.68 on Tuesday night. The cruise line operator had no specific news.

SunPower Corp. (NASDAQ: SPWR) dropped 1.4% on Wednesday to post a new 52-week low of $9.89 against a 52-week high of $31.10. Volume of around 1.6 million was about 20% above the daily average of around 2.6 million. The stock closed at $10.03 on Tuesday night. The solar module maker had no specific news Wednesday, but the solar industry in general is setting up for another supply glut like the one that felled several companies five years ago.
