General Motors Co. (NYSE: GM) has recalled more than 29 million of the 46 million-plus vehicles on their way back to the makers’ shops in 2014. The previous record was around 31 million recalled vehicles in 2004.
The mis-installed part may interfere with the side curtain shield airbags preventing the airbag from inflating to its proper shape.
Of the recalled vehicles, 130,000 were sold in the U.S. and the other 10,000 were sold in Canada. The issue is limited to the 2014 model.
Toyota recalled more than 6 million vehicles worldwide earlier this year to repair a different airbag problem. According to autoblog.com 1.3 million of the vehicles were sold in the U.S.
